The James Hair & Co story

James Hair & Co was set up as a chartered accounts in Scotland by Jim in 1980 shortly after he qualified. Since then the company has grown to 4 partners, over 20 staff, and helped hundreds of clients with a wide range of services. 

Our mission has remained consistent over the past 40 years: to give you confidence in your finances, and to help to make your businesses more profitable and your wealth more secure.

Our clients are such a great mix, all at different stages, with their own set of unique ambitions.

Our investment philosophy

Our fundamental objective is to protect and preserve accumulated wealth. 

We are neither passive managers slavishly following specific market indices, nor active managers trading stocks on a daily basis. 

Our hybrid style rests, in the main, on supporting well established and proven models over the medium to long term.

Unlike larger practices, you’ll get to work with the partners, who will spend time getting to know you and your business at a personal level. We’re keen to support the next generation of accountants, tax experts and financial planners, so we routinely take on graduates looking to develop their careers in these areas. We support them through their exams and provide the practical experience they need to complement the theory, giving them the opportunity to work anywhere in the world when the time is right.

Our charity partner

Our charity partner is STAR, which stands for Siblings Together and Reunited. It’s the only charity of its kind in Scotland, and the brain child of Cupar resident Karen Morrison. STAR helps to reunite siblings who have been separated through the care system by providing regular opportunities for them to meet up and spend time with each other. 

We’re aiming to raise funds for STAR through a couple of special events this year including the Fife Twin Peaks Challenge and a quiz. We all contribute ideas for fundraising and enjoy getting together to support a very worthy cause.
